Good for fans who want lower bowl experience without paying $500+ per ticket. Just know that watching plays develop toward the opposite end zone can be tricky from this angle.

What to Avoid: East Sideline (Visitor’s Side): East sideline (visitor’s side, sections 108-123, 209-223, 405-418 east side) gets blasted by sun all game. This side is brutal for afternoon games—the sun beats down on you for three hours with zero relief. Upper deck east side has no shade whatsoever, and the sun shines right in your eyes.

Only sit here for night games (when shade doesn’t matter) or if tickets are dirt cheap and you’re willing to suffer. Bring SPF 100, a hat, and gallons of water—you’ll need it.

​Also Avoid Row 1 in the lower bowl. It sounds cool to be ‘field level,’ but you spend the whole game watching the backs of players’ necks and the cameraman’s butt. Rows 20-30 are the actual sweet spot.

VTA Light Rail (The Smartest Option)

VTA Light Rail stops at Great America Station on the north side of Levi’s Stadium—you literally walk off the train and you’re at the gates. Routes run daily from Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Milpitas, San Jose, Santa Clara, and Campbell. Special event service runs for 49ers games and concerts with extra trains and extended hours.​

Accessible courtesy transportation/wheelchair service is available from the Great America Light Rail station to the stadium’s west gates. Call the Mobility Services team at (408) 579-4610 to request service.​

If you’re staying in San Francisco, take Caltrain to Mountain View Station, then transfer to VTA Light Rail Orange Line for the final leg to Great America Station. Best tailgate lots: Red Lot 1, VIP Red Lot 1, Blue Lot 1, VIP Green Lot 1, and VIP Yellow Lots 2/3 allow open-flame grills for tailgating. These are the prime spots for setting up a full tailgate.

Uber/Lyft pickup: Located at Red Lot 7. Here’s the problem: rideshare pickups after games are a “nightmarish fucktangle hellscape” (actual fan quote). Surge pricing hits $200+, wait times exceed 1 hour, and you can’t even request a ride until you’re at the pickup location.​

Better move: Take VTA Light Rail away from the stadium to a nearby station, then request an Uber/Lyft from there. You’ll save time and money. Or just take the train all the way home.​

Take VTA Light Rail from San Jose or Caltrain from SF. Skip parking and rideshare hassles entirely. If you’re driving, buy prepaid parking for Red or Blue lots, arrive 3.5 hours early, and tailgate. If you’re using rideshare, get dropped off before the game but take VTA away from the stadium afterward—don’t wait in the rideshare pickup zone for an hour paying surge pricing.

Levi’s Stadium is a state-of-the-art NFL venue with Silicon Valley tech features, sustainability credentials, and some of the best food options in the league. But the heat is brutal on the east side—sit on the west sideline (sections 132-144) for shade and comfort, or go upper deck west side back rows for budget-friendly protection.

Take VTA Light Rail from San Jose or Caltrain from SF to avoid parking, tailgate in the Red or Blue lots if you’re driving, and order garlic fries and poke nachos inside. The 49ers Faithful are loud, passionate, and the gameday atmosphere is electric when the team is winning. Just don’t sit on the visitor’s side for a 1pm kickoff unless you enjoy third-degree burns. Hostinig the Super Bowl and the FIFA World Cup in 2026 adds to the allure of this dynamic corner of the Bay Area.
