Why are college football stadiums bigger than NFL stadiums?
College football stadiums are larger than NFL stadiums primarily due to their historic origins. During the college stadium building boom of the 1920s, attending in person was the only way to watch a game, driving massive capacities and bleacher seating. In contrast, the NFL's popularity exploded during the television era, shifting the league's focus toward lucrative broadcast rights, luxury suites, and individual seating rather than packing 100,000 fans onto aluminum bleachers.
